An anniversary and an ear ache

HJ and I got married four years ago today on June 25, 2005 at 5:00. I loved all the fives. And, I love my sweet hubbie...thanks for an amazing first four years of marriage, love! Tonight, we are going to eat at Automatic Slims and to see "Wicked" at the Orpheum here in Memphis to celebrate. HJ bought the tickets as a surprise, but, as usual, I figured it out. But, I still think it was a great gift.

Here is a picture of William "reading" yesterday after we got home from the doctor. He had his first ear infection, but he seems much better today after a little Tylenol and Amoxicillin.

Four years ago, on our honeymoon...aren't we cute?

Big Little Man

Today, I broke down an bought some baby gear. It is so big in our already small house, but is folds down flat and can go under the crib. I'm hoping I can put William in it for a bit in the kitchen while I'm cooking, cleaning, etc. (and HJ is just hoping that I will cook and clean). I think William likes it, but his feet are his true favorite toy of the moment.

We're Back...

I did a terrible job of taking pictures during the trip, but here are a few. We had a wonderful, wonderful time with both of our families. We relaxed, read, walked on the beach, ate great seafood, and avoided the sun whenever possible. I think we might be the least tan people ever to return from the beach.

In other news, in a moment of weakness I agreed to teach the four year old VBS class at our church all week this week. What was I thinking? 16-18 four year olds...and me. It could be a disaster. We'll see.

Friday

There's not much for me to report here this week. I kicked off my vacation right by going to the dentist on Monday and the OBGYN on Tuesday. I think the dental hygienist was out for blood, literally. On Wednesday and Thursday, I did get in a little relaxing. I ordered The Help specifically to read at the beach next week, and I have already finished it. I started it on Saturday and finished it on Tuesday...I couldn't put it down. (You have a lot of reading time when you are still nursing five times a day.) So, now I am trying to find another beach book. I bought Same kind of different as me. yesterday, so I'll see how that is.

William is doing great, although I really don't have any new pictures this week (sorry everyone who just wants to see the pictures). We have just been enjoying some quality time together. We started solid foods, and yesterday we tried green beans. He had done so well with the other foods that I thought that maybe he just was not picky. However, the green beans disproved my theory. He still took every bite, but then he would just let the green goop ooze slowly back out of his mouth. I think every time I offered him a bite he thought, ooh, maybe this bite will be better. I can't blame him though because I tried a bite myself and it was just what you would think pureed green beans with no salt or seasoning would taste like...yuck.

We are heading to the beach this weekend for some relaxation. My parents gave me a spa day there for graduation (thanks again!) and I cannot wait. Hopefully, the eight hour drive will not be a disaster.

Well, that's all for now. I should have some beach pictures soon. Happy Friday!

It's Official...

Yep, I graduated! Here are a few pics from the weekend. I'm off to bed and looking forward to three weeks of freedom! My family was so wonderful to come and support me (no fog horns, thankfully) at the multiple long ceremonies and receptions. More to come...

And just because he's so stinkin' cute...

Sweet Boys

We had our Bible study at our house tonight and William and Sutton got to hang out. Sutton loves William a.k.a. "Baby", and I know William will soon be trying to do everything Sutton can do. Look at these cute boys...

William Laughs

OK, I finally figured out how to get another video to load. William has been doing this little giggle for a while, but yesterday he really laughed a few times. Of course, we didn't get the real laugh on video, but his giggle and squeal are pretty cute!

This has been quite the week for our little man and quite the month for our fam. I went back to work, and although the actual work has been fairly easy, it has been an adjustment. I am still getting used to getting William all ready and out the door in a timely fashion. He certainly has a lot to take to school for such a small person. I think the hardest thing, and I know this will get worse when I start my internship, is being tired when I do get home. Overall, though, it has been a nice month to ease back into the workforce.

William is such a little joy to us. He is so happy! Like I said is the previous post, he had his four month check up on Wednesday. He weighed 13 lbs 15 oz. We gave him some cereal for the first time on Wednesday, and he was completely nonplussed (see picture below). He ate all that we gave him with no objections, but he just looked at us as if to say, "This stuff is nothing special." He seemed to like it a lot more tonight except that whenever he wants another bite, he dives towards the chest of whoever is holding him. I guess he hasn't quite figured out that food can come from a bowl.

Here are a few pictures from the week...

This is one of my brother's old outfits. I love the seer sucker!

Four Months

William is four months old today, and I cannot believe it. This picture is after his four month shots today...so sad.

Mother's Day Weekend

We spent the weekend in Tupelo with my fam, and we had such a great time! We of course had to visit the Gum Tree Festival and enjoy kabobs and fresh lemonade. Here are a few pictures of the weekend.

Wonder where William got his ears...
My two boys...

All of us looking at the camera at the same time, with smiles...amazing.

Smaller Cooler Contest---Go Vote!

Guess what? HJ and I entered William's nursery into the Ohdeedoh Smaller Cooler Contest and it was selected to be posted on their blog. Please follow this link, sign in, and give us a "Thumbs Up" so we can win! We would really, really appreciate it. Oh, and you can check out William's room while you're at it!

Simon Cow

Ok, I know I already posted today (pretty good since I actually had to go to work today), but I couldn't resist posting this picture. My parents got William this cow for Easter, and he loves it. He likes to hug it when he goes to sleep for his naps. We named him Simon Cow.
P.S. I have to confess I only had to work a half day.

Calhoun City Happenings

"Gran" took these pictures when she kept William on Saturday. Apparently, while we were gone William became an avid reader of the newspaper and a duck hunter. I think the hat was HJ's when he was little.

Heigh ho, Heigh ho...

Yes, it is true. Tomorrow, it's off to work for me. Maternity leave is sadly coming to an end. I realized this week that this is the longest I have been out of school since before kindergarten. I am definitely in for a rude awakening when I go back this week, but I am thankful that I am able to work and that William has some sweet, sweet ladies to take care of him during the days I am working.
We went to Starkville this weekend to celebrate my brother's college graduation. I got to have some sweet tea and a shrimp Po-boy at Oby's- yum! And, we had a great time seeing Daniel walk across the stage and receive his diploma. Congratulations, Dan the Man! I can't believe you've finished college. You are a wonderful brother, uncle, and friend!

Crochet Pattern

I had a couple of requests for the headband pattern, so here it is...
I combined this flower:
http://skamama.blogspot.com/2007/11/5-petal-flower.html

With this headband:
http://creativeyarn.blogspot.com/2008/05/simple-crochet-headband.html

Then, I just sewed a few beads and sequins in the middle of the flower and sewed the flower onto the headband. Voila!

By the way, I tried the flower on the creative yarn blog but it came out HUGE (it took up half my head), so I found the other pattern.

Weekend Pictures

Getting ready for a stroll...I love that little grin!

No grins to be had after bath time...too cold!

The Mo-Mullet

We are definitely starting a new trend here...part mohawk, part mullet, part balding...good thing he's so cute, or he could not pull it off. I think all the babies in town will be following suit soon! (Excuse the crack attack, please.)

This one kind of makes me sad. He looks like such a big boy.

Venturing into the craft world...

The ladies in my church have a crochet group. We meet every other week to work on our crochet projects, eat good food (thanks to Mr. Wilson), and socialize. We bring our kids, too, so the boys usually also have a game or guitar hero night. Last year, we mostly made hats to give to Church without Doors, a homeless ministry. Due to some serious hat making burnout, we are making projects for the Cooper-Young Festival this year. The festival is in September, so we should have plenty of time to build up a stash to sell. Here is my first Cooper Young project. The only problem is that I really like it, so I might have to keep it and make another for the festival. I'm going to try to post my projects here, and hopefully encourage people to come on over to Midtown Memphis in September! What do you think?

P.S. Don't worry, those of you who like to click on the picture and see the really big version, my ears are clean...I checked.

1/4 of a year

Happy 3 months, little man!
